This course will equip participants with the knowledge of permit to work system and certify them as competent to use PTW for high risk activities.

The permit to work training and certification is compulsory for anyone involved in hazardous activities like: cold work, confined space, hot work, electrical work, excavation, working at height, chemicals, diving, oil & gas, etc.

Personnel who issue or sign-off permits will also benefit from this course.

Course overview

Permit to work system ensures that hazardous high risk activities, ie tasks that have the potential to cause serious injury or death, are caried out under specific permission (permit) from an authorized competent person.

This ptw hse training course explains the purpose of permit to work, why ptw system is important, the roles and responsibilities of concerned personnel, how to prepare and issue a permit. And ultimately equips participants with effective knowledge on how to us PTW system to work safely.

• Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm Daily

• Date: We conduct PTW hse training once a month from January to December.

• Training Schedule: Thursdays - Fridays (all training centers) | Saturdays - Sundays (some training centers).

What should be included in a Permit to Work System hse Training?

• Introduction to Permits to Work (PTW) Systems: What is ptw system; what type of work requires a ptw; when is a ptw required; who is responsible for ptw; why permit to work (ptw) hse is important

• Health and safety (HSE) regulations

• How to design a suitable and effective permit to work system | job safety analysis (JSA): hazards and risks, precautions control measures and procedures, training & competence, personnel protective equipment (PPE); design of ptw

• Control measures like plant isolation/lock out tag out (LOTO) procedures

• Procedures for issuing a permit to work

• How to handle or display a permit

• Termination or close-out of a permit to work

• Limitations of PTW hse system: inadequately designed ptw; inadequate training; poor safety culture, supervision, human errors, etc

• Course summary and final assessment


Candidates would be assessed by:

• a written assessment of 20 multiple choice questions to be answered in 30 minutes;

• participants are expected to score a pass mark of 80%, and

• you can take the assessment as many times as you want at no extra charge.
